Shelf Reliance Taste Test!

I recently received this information from Sister Hardy, our Relief Society President. It was forwarded to her, in case any of you are interested. It sounds interesting, and definitely would help us all become more self-reliant! This is an email from Marjalee Smith, from our Stake. If you are interested, you will see a phone number to call for more information. Thanks!

"Hey there!  Joseanne and I are interested in ordering some items from Shelf Reliance, a food storage company that specializes in freeze dried food.  I tasted some of their fruit at an event recently and it was so good!  But, I wanted Joseanne to taste it and I wanted to taste some of their other items and since the only way really to taste it is to have a 'party' - we set up a 'party'.  If you would like to taste test their products, we invite you to come to my home on Saturday the 9th of April between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.  It will be open house style, so you can just come when you want and taste what they have and go.  No pressure to buy anything - just an opportunity to taste it.  Feel free to bring your spouse or friends."

If not, let the creativeness begin! Have fun! Let your kids (if you have them) get involved in making things, or coming up with ideas! It's a great opportunity to have a great time with your family, while serving the people you have.

Prayers for the Herriman Community! A Plan to Get Our 72 Hour Kits Ready!

Last night, a HUGE Wildfire broke out in Herriman, Utah.  Many of the people living there only had 120 seconds to evacuate!  120 Seconds??  What on earth do you grab in less than two minutes?

Then it got me thinking...are our 72 hour kits updated? My husband and I always try to make a goal of taking out our 72 hour kits over Conference Weekend to update them. Having a little girl who grows like a weed, this is more than necessary. I highly recommend you choose a time around every 6 months or so to do the same. We chose conference weekend because it's easy to remember and we are usually home. But if a natural disaster happened would I be able to have ALL I needed ready to go?

This event has put some perspective on what I need to have prepared in case of an emergency.  If I have less than two minutes to get out of the house, then I need to have my kit updated and all ready to go!  That is why I thought that over the next month or so, we could all start building 72 hour kits for each person in our families, or updating those we already have. We should be able to get most of it for very little cost- especially with coupons and utilizing the sales and deals going on right now.  And, we will all feel good knowing we are ready for when that emergency comes knocking on our doors.

Are you all with me??  I think it is going to be a great thing for everyone to participate in.

I am going to start to do some research, then, in a few days we will start finding deals and putting them in our 72 Hour Kits!

To all of those affected who have lost their homes or were evacuated- I think I speak for everyone when I say that our prayers are with you!!
