Community Career Fair:
A community career fair will be held Tuesday, March 1st from 3:00 – 6:30 pm at the Ogden-Weber Applied Technology College, 200 N. Washington Blvd. in Ogden. Come meet with top employers from Northern Utah and explore over 50 training programs. A flyer is attached with details. Please pass this along to interested ward members.

We invite each of you to the Northern Utah Job Camp to be held Thursday, January 27^th at the Bountiful Regional Center in North Salt Lake. The event will start at 3:00 pm and conclude at 8:00 pm. Speakers will deal with such topics as “Working with Recruiters”, “Dress for Success”, “Using LDS Employment Services to Your Advantage”, and “Dealing with the Stress of Unemployment”. Our keynote speaker will be Mayor Matthew Godfrey of Ogden who will speak on “Positive Economic  Changes in Northern Utah” at 7:00 pm.

Classes will also be offered on such diverse topics as “Reinventing Yourself”, Working From Home”, Starting a Business”, “Using LinkedIn”, “Resume Preparation”, and “Benefits for the Unemployed”. We will also have training available for ward and stake leaders.

Representatives from community agencies, local colleges and  universities, and self-employment service agencies will also be on hand with promotional materials regarding the services they provide. Also, human resource professionals will be on hand to review resumes and to give specific resume advice.

Most important will be the opportunity to network with like-minded individuals in a given career. We appreciate those individuals you have asked to assist at the networking tables and invite you to have others come join us.

Please invite friends and neighbors who might benefit from the Job Camp to attend. See you Thursday!!

Some Ward Information...

Sister Shupe just forwarded me some information she received as the employment specialist in our ward.

We have been ask to assist Schwan’s Home Service in their recruitment efforts. There will be an Employment Open House held Tuesday, December 14th from 11 am to 5 pm at 1710 S. 4490 West in Salt Lake. A flyer is posted on the bulletin board.

Lagoon will be holding auditions for Singers/Dancers and Technical Personal for the 2011 season. These  will begin in January 2011.

HEAT Assistance Information

For those who are not aware. we have an Employment Specialist in the ward who helps provide information she receives about employment. This month we received some information for anyone you know who might be able to use some assistance this winter with heat. 

HEAT-Home Energy Assistance Target-It's purpose is to assist eligible households meet the rising costs of home energy.  HEAT is not a welfare program.  It is federally funded Energy Assistance administered by the State of Utah.  It is a one time only per year application.  Starting Nov. 2 thru Sept 30.  Based on qualifying income and household.
